Jewish 10 commandments

Then God said all these words: I am Adonai your God,
Who brought you out of the land of Egypt,
out of the abode of slavery?

1.

You are to have no other gods before me.

2.

You are not to make for yourselves a carved image or any kind of representation of
anything in heaven above, on the earth beneath or in the water below the shoreline. You
are not to bow down to them or serve them; for I, Adonai your God, am a jealous God,
punishing the children for the sins of the parents to the third and fourth generation of
those who hate me, but displaying grace to the thousandth generation of those who love
me and obey my mitzvoth.

3.

You are not to use lightly the name of Adonai your God, because Adonai will not leave
unpunished someone who uses his name lightly.

4.

Remember the day, Shabbat, to set it apart for God. You have six days to labor and do
all your work, but the seventh day is a Shabbat for Adonai your God. On it, you are not to
do any kind of work — not you, your son or your daughter, not you’re male or female
slave, not your livestock, and not the foreigner staying with you inside the gates to your
property. For in six days, Adonai made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in
them; but on the seventh day he rested. This is why Adonai blessed the day, Shabbat, and
separated it for himself.

5.

Honor your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land which Adonai
your God is giving you.

6.

Do not murder.

7.

Do not commit adultery.

8.

Do not steal.

9.

Do not give false evidence against your neighbor.

10.

One must not covet your neighbor’s house; one must not covet your neighbor’s wife, his
male or female slave, his ox, his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

New Living Translation
Then God gave the people all these instructions:

I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of
Egypt, the place of your slavery.

1.

You must not have any other god but me

2.

You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the
heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them,
for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any
other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—
even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. But I lavish
unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.

3.

You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord will not let you go
unpunished if you misuse his name.

4.

Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. You have six days each week
for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the
Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you,
your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any
foreigners living among you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the
sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the Lord
blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.

5.

Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord
your God is giving you.

6.

You must not murder.

7.

You must not commit adultery.

8.

You must not steal.

9.

You must not testify falsely against your neighbor.

10.

You must not covet your neighbor’s house. You must not covet your neighbor’s wife,
male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor.

New International Version
And God spoke all these words:

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of
the land of slavery.

1.

You shall have no other gods before me.

2.

You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on
the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship
them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the
parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a
thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

3.

You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone
guiltless who misuses his name.

4.

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your
work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any
work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your
animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. For in six days the Lord made the
heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day.
Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

5.

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord
your God is giving you.

6.

You shall not murder.

7.

You shall not commit adultery.

8.

You shall not steal.

9.

You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

10.

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or
his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Amplified Bible
Then God spoke all these words:

I am the Lord your God, Who has brought you out of the land of
Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

1.

You shall have no other gods before or besides me.

2.

You shall not make yourself any graven image [to worship it] or any likeness of
anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in
the water under the earth; You shall not bow down yourself to them or serve them;
for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon
the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, But showing
mercy and steadfast love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep
My commandments.

3.

You shall not use or repeat the name of the Lord your God in vain [that is, lightly
or frivolously, in false affirmations or profanely]; for the Lord will not hold him
guiltless who takes His name in vain.

4.

[Earnestly] remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy (withdrawn from common
employment and dedicated to God). Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any
work, you, or your son, your daughter, your manservant, your maidservant, your
domestic animals, or the sojourner within your gates. For in six days the Lord
made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the
seventh day. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it [set it
apart for His purposes].

5.

Regard (treat with honor, due obedience, and courtesy) your father and mother
that your days may be long in the land the Lord your God gives you.

6.

You shall not commit murder.

7.

You shall not commit adultery.

8.

You shall not steal.

9.

You shall not witness falsely against your neighbor.

10.

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house, your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant,
or his maidservant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.
